Harry & Sophie | A Spring Wedding at St Mary’s Church, Barcombe & Gote Barn

Some weddings are remembered for the details.

Harry and Sophie’s had plenty of them.

The flowers, the styling and all the thoughtful touches Sophie had spent so much time putting together were beautiful, but none of them felt like they were there just to be photographed. They felt personal. By the end of the day, they blended into the atmosphere rather than stealing the attention.

The morning began a few minutes apart, with Harry getting ready at his parents’ house and Sophie at a beautiful nearby Airbnb. Everything was close to St Mary’s Church in Barcombe, which meant the day flowed easily from one place to the next without anyone ever feeling rushed.

After the ceremony, everyone made their way to Gote Barn near Ringmer for the reception. It’s a combination of venues that works incredibly well. The church feels timeless, while Gote Barn has a more relaxed feel, giving people space to settle in, catch up and enjoy the day without feeling tied to a schedule.

It was one of those bright overcast days that photographers secretly love. The soft light stayed consistent all afternoon, and the breeze added just enough movement to make the photographs feel alive. Veils lifted, dresses moved and nothing ever looked too perfect—which, for me, is usually when the best photographs happen.

The food from Circa Events was brilliant throughout the day, Clare Wilson’s flowers suited the barn perfectly, and once Oomph started playing in the evening, the dance floor stayed busy for the rest of the night.

Looking back at the gallery now, it’s the atmosphere that stands out most.

A wedding full of personality.

A couple who were clearly having the best time.

And a day where all of the details, however beautiful they were, quietly became part of something much bigger.

Planning a wedding at Gote Barn?

If you’re planning a wedding at Gote Barn or a ceremony at St Mary’s Church, Barcombe, this is a combination I’d happily recommend. The venues are only a short drive apart, making the day feel relaxed from start to finish. Gote Barn also offers plenty of space both inside and out, which means guests naturally spread out and the day never feels crowded.

From a photography point of view, the soft, open surroundings and beautiful Sussex countryside make it an excellent venue for natural, relaxed photographs without taking you away from your guests for long.
