Cameron Mobbs – Luthier #2

After visiting Cameron in his workshop I photographed two of his guitars before they headed of to happy customers in my studio at home.

Bridal Shoot

I love the bridal shoot. The part before the wedding when excitement is bursting at the seams, it really feels truly magical. It’s also a private for the bride and it’s lovely to candidly capture those small moments of reflection and of course all the laughter with the bridal party is something that gets the party started! Cameron Mobbs – Luthier

Cameron Mobbs is a professional guitar maker working in the South East. Ib a cild and windy February day I went to his workshop in Lewes to photograph him at work. He has such a creative space with tools hung on the walls around him and guitars lining up ready to be mended. It immediately makes you want to find out about the process he goes through each time he makes a guitar. Unfortunately, there was not enough time for that with his busy schedule. However, it was such a fun and interesting environment to photograph, the shapes and contrasts of the materials and tools was so inviting to my lens.

Hazaar of London

Below are a few of the many photographs from a recent shoot I did in Battle with Hazaar of London who provided the beautiful gowns. Hazaar of London is run by two women, Isoline and Rachel who design and fit their beautiful gowns to reflect the individual style of each bride which their meet. I loved their flare and eye for detail which when combined created some really unique bridal styles full of elegance and glamour. Lewes Patina Illustrator Event

Lewes Patina’s 2019 theme is all about children’s literature. An event leading up to the Patina has put the spotlight on some local illustrators and some fantastic ones we have! The event was a geocache easter egg hunt with 15 illustrators hidden around the town poised ready to hand out chocolate easter eggs and talk about their work.  The weather was beautiful and attracted many explorers. I grabbed the opportunity to take some photograph and went on the hunt for the illustrators. In book shops, galleries, converted barns and in old breweries I found the Artists along with lots of excited children eager to have a go at the art activities put on for them.

Street Photography

I recently took up an opportunity to take a group of students to a Nike Air Max experience day and joined in with the students. I love experimenting with the elements and techniques and playing around with the backgrounds and colour. I think quite often post production is only used for enhancing images by perfecting the colour and light which we already have available.

Macro Photography

Capturing fine details is so important when showcasing work. A Macro lens lets you explore those fine details with a camera that your eye cannot see, this is what makes it so exciting.  It can let clients see the finesse of your hard work in fine detail at the same time as creating shots that match the style of your work be that elegant and traditional or fun and exciting. Here is an experimental shoot that I did a while back.

Time Out Mama Lan

TimeHop back to a food shoot I did for Time Out (https://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/mama-lan-1). I do love food photography and I put it alongside product photography as it is something that someone has created. A piece of art on a plate. I enjoy so much watching Masterchef and seeing the art and passion behind the plates of food. It can be quite hard getting that perfect shot which showcases the food off but bringing in extra elements such a chop sticks, hands, the soft wood you can really highlight certain colours and parts of a dish. I have to admit one of my worst nightmares in the photographs of plates of food you sometimes see on menus in cafes or abroad. It puts you off the food rather than drawing you in. Food photography wants to be light, fun and above all, just in reach so that you are hankering after that plate of food!
